Life as an opera singer: Elizabeth Llewellyn

9 June 2016

‘It is definitely not a glamorous life!’ Read on to find out what else Elizabeth Llewellyn, our Iris in ‪#‎IrisMurder‬, had to say about life as an opera singer…

1. What is the best thing about your job?
Working with people at the top of their game in the opera industry – it is inspiring and makes great music-making/story-telling so easy.

2. And the worst?

3. Tell me something most people don’t know about being a singer.
Singers are just the same as everyone else – we do our own grocery shopping, use public transport, etc. It is definitely not a glamorous or ‘special’ life!
Opera singers sing unamplified over orchestras of up to 80 players in auditoriums ranging from 1500 to 4000 seats.
We sing in (and understand!) a variety of European languages
Opera singers are actually singing-actors.

4. If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?
A journalist.

Hear Elizabeth in action at the premiere of #IrisMurder this Friday in Glasgow.
